Online Society ( Youtube, Facebook, Etc.)
People live their life for the internet these days. Youtube is such a big deal in this day and age. You see new videos being put up every day on Youtube. For work, school, athletics, etc. Youtube helps you advertise a good amount of things in your every day life without paying a crazy amount of money for it. Facebook is probably the site that either everyone has or has heard about. This is the site that people love to meet people on and love to keep up with their good friends. Facebook is really taking off and hurting myspace big time. Myspace used to be a big site for teenagers now facebook is pretty much myspace but more of a mature setting and you get to meet people and keep up with others that you already know. Facebook is always updating it and making their website better because they know that they are on top and people want to be the best and you have to beat the best to be the best. I personally enjoy facebook because a lot of my friends have it, my family has it and I am able to keep in touch with them so that is always a plus. I bet if we were to take a poll of 100 20 year olds in college the first site that they get on when they get on the internet, 90 percent of students would say Facebook because its a new age and people want to always be in the know and see what their friends are up too. Twitter to me might be the most pointless website on the internet. If you are so bored or so into yourself that you think that people really care what you are doing every second of every day than there are bigger problems that you need to handle.
Online Dating and How it is Risng all over the world
Online dating is rising in the United States and all over the world. A lot more people are getting married, and percentages are rising year after year with the usage of these websites. To me these sites are a bail out because people can't find the courage to get out in the world, meet people, and create relationships the way that they should be created. To me the people that are using theses sites also have a hard time meeting people so they use this which I can understand. I am pretty sure that there is someone for everyone in the world, it just depends on how hard you want to work to find that special person. It isn't shocking that the percentage of people that use dating sites are so high. You see a lot of commercials about the dating sites on tv or on the internet, and the commercials are doing a very good job of advertising the commercials and trying to persuade the audience that dating sites are the new way to go instead of actually meeting someone in person. It doesn't really bother me too much, but the way I was brought up I am just used to introducing myself in person and having a full on conversation like a man. As long as you are happy with the person that you meet either on the dating sites or in person than that is all that matters. There are so many different ways to communicate and meet people these days that its almost the norm on meeting people. If not through a text message its thru facebook or dating sites, so there is no wonder the number of people meeting each other online is going up every year. There is always another site being created online to meet someone online. For example, every day after basketball practice the first thing I do is check my text message to see if anyone has contacted me. Its just a different culture this day and age that people check there phones before they start a conversation in the locker room, in the workplace, or anywhere for that matter. Online Dating is not a bad thing at all, I feel like it just paralyzes our communication skills as people and that is a problem.

Technology and Social Interaction
I think that technology has had both a positive and a negative effect on face to face interaction. Positive because sometimes you do get to meet some pretty cool people from your school that you probably would not have ran into online and become really good friends. But it is also negative because it is kind of weird to talk over the internet to someone and when you see them in person not really acknowledge their presence. I think meeting people online is a good thing if you are in it for the right reasons. Pedophiles are usually meeting younger people on the internet which is not cool at all. But if you are actually trying to meet someone and start a life with someone and you do not have the verbal skills to interact with people face to face, than a dating site would be very helpful to them because they can see what interest they both like and most of the time the dating sites really work. I think that we as a society do need to create more face to face relationships, but everyone is into the new technology and there are so many ways to communicate online now that it is going to be extremely difficult to get our society away from at least meeting one person online

Your Media Diet
When I analyzed what types of media I tend to lean towards in the 5-7 day study I noticed that I watched a lot of TV and get on facebook and other normally visited sites like espn.com, nba.com, youtube.com, santaclarabroncos.com. Some of the shows that I watch on a daily basis are Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Sportscenter. Most of my time goes to video games though. I play nba 2k11 and fifa 2011 for pretty much the entire day that I am not in class or in practice. What this media diet says about me is that I like watching sports, comedy, and love to play video games. I think that other people around my age group are about the same way. I know a lot of the people that I hang out with do the same play a lot of video games and watch tons of tv, and stay up on the latest sites every day. My media diet might tell people that I am really not concerned about my academics. They would be wrong because that comes first, but with people looking from the outside and seeing me playing video games all of the time might think that is all I do. I always study first no matter what. I feel like I might want to lay off of the video games but I am not in the real world just yet and will live every minute of it until I am. Video games my age is pretty normal. I don't feel like my social location really has any effect on if I watch tv or if I play a video game. I do all of these things because I like to have fun, and those things that I do give me pleasure.
